Description
A fun and delicious homemade Bluey cake with a rich chocolate base, perfect for birthday parties and cartoon-themed celebrations.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ¾ cups sugar
¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tsp baking powder
1 ½ tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 large eggs
1 cup buttermilk
½ cup vegetable oil
1 cup hot water
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 ½ cups unsalted butter
5 cups powdered sugar
2–3 tbsp milk or cream
Gel food coloring: sky blue, royal blue, white, black, tan
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare cake pans.
2. Mix dry ingredients and wet ingredients in separate bowls.
3. Combine both mixtures and stir in hot water last.
4. Divide batter into pans and bake for 30–35 minutes.
5. Cool completely, then trim and stack cake layers.
6. Apply a crumb coat and chill the cake for 30 minutes.
7. Mix buttercream and divide into bowls; add food coloring.
8. Frost the cake in sky blue and chill briefly.
9. Pipe Bluey’s face details using templates and colored frosting.
10. Add final accents with fondant or piped frosting.
11. Store chilled and serve at room temp.
